The new Rotary Centennial Playground is open for playtime!

Rotary Centennial Playground

The new world-class, inclusive playground at the Community Maritime Park marks 100 years of Rotary Club in Pensacola.  It is located in the middle of the grass fields along the waterfront of the park with beautiful views of the bay.

The playground includes a play area designed specifically for children ages 5 to 12 and a shaded picnic area, surrounded by shade trees. The play equipment is designed to reinforce learning, encourage the development of social skills, inspire imaginative play, provide physical challenges, enable learning agility and balance, strengthen muscles and encourage parent/child engagement.

Benches, night lighting, donor recognition and Rotary messages are integrated throughout the park. The park also features a clock centerpiece. The rubber surface of the play area, provided by an Impact100 grant, incorporates the Rotary logo and adds to the safety of the playground.

The playground was designed and built by local firms who have donated many hours to the project’s development. Local architect John Tice led the design committee and enlisted the help of Larry Adams with his firm, Bullock Tice Associates; Steve Dana with Jerry Pate Design; David Delgallo with Morette Company; Joe DeReuil with Joe DeReuil Associates; and Keith Jacobs with Larry Jacobs & Associates.

Fundraising is ongoing to add an area designed for children ages 2 to 5 and other features. Donations and sponsorships from individuals, companies and organizations are welcome. Named sponsorships are also available.

The Community Maritime Park has become the heart of downtown recreation, and this inclusive playground will add to families’ enjoyment of the waterfront park for many years to come
