The Rotary Club of Pensacola’s Community Grants Initiative Committee has so far this fiscal year awarded $2,000 in grants for important community projects. The awards include $500 awarded to Learn to Read of Northwest Florida, an organization that addresses adult literacy, for dictionaries that can be provided by tutors to their new pupils. A $500 award was also provided to Baptist Lifeflight to help support its regional air ambulance service. Combined with a previous $1,000 award, Lifeflight was provided with a total of $1,500 in grants from Downtown Rotary. Finally, a $1,000 award was provided to Ballet Pensacola in order to sponsor two schools to participate in the Discover Dance program. The program is interactive with students and introduces them to dance, art and healthy lifestyles.
