Responding to the overwhelming need in Haiti, the club collected enough at today’s meeting alone for almost 10 ShelterBoxes. Rotary Clubs throughout the district are raising money for ShelterBox, a Global Rotary Club Project.

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity and a Global Rotary Club Project specializing in emergency shelter. A ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) is on the ground in Haiti working local Rotarians in order to ensure the most effective distribution of aid in Haiti.
Each box supplies an extended family of up to ten people with a tent and quality survival equipment to use while they are displaced. The cost of a box is $1,000, including delivery direct to those who need it. Every box bears its own unique number so as a donor you can track your box all the way to its recipient.
ShelterBox Founder and CEO Tom Henderson says: “This is as bad as we’ve seen it. There’s never been a bigger need. We’re receiving support and donations from all corners of the globe.” The UN estimates that 200,000 families, up to one million people, are in need of immediate shelter in Haiti.
