Club Foundation activities this year

Organizations we are supporting this year are as follows:

ECARE / Wee Read, in support of literacy initiatives. We have pledged and given
$4,000.00.

Manna Food Bank, in support of hunger initiatives. We have pledged and given
$3,000.00. In addition to this $5,000.00 was raised during the Thanksgiving drive to
provide meals during Thanksgiving.

Junior Achievement, in support of vocational initiatives. We have pledged and given
$3,000.00.

Ronald McDonald House, in support of health and wellness initiatives for youth. We
have pledged and given $3,000. We have also applied for a District Simplified Grant for
the Ronald McDonald House, award is still pending.

Interact at WHS and PHS, in support of youth initiatives. We have pledged $3,000.00.
Both Schools have active Interact programs thanks to the able leadership of Ed Wonders,
John Shaffer, and Scott Grissett. The two clubs have been busy, Manna Food Drive (over
1000 lbs, go WHS), Bell Ringing for Salvation Army, Gulf Coast Kid’s House support,
Preparing meals at Ronald McDonald House, making Christmas cards for Haven House
and Bayside Manor residents, the list goes on!

Local Community Grants We have pledged $10,000 for various causes that come to
the committee during the year. To date the committee has recommend and the Board has
approved the following allocations:

  • Lakeview $1,000.00
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters $1,000.00
  • Gulf Coast Boy Scouts $1,000.00
  • Global Corner $1,000.00
  • IB Support Foundation $439.00

We have $5,561 dollars left in this budget to allocate if you know of worthy needs in the
community. The focus is preferred to be in the range of $500 for each grant. Andrea
Farage chairs this committee.

Polio Plus Gates Foundation Match Challenge We have pledged $7,500 over a three
year period and have given $5,000 to date, ahead of our commitment. To learn more
