Rotarians See Results in India

Posted July 25, 2007

Rotary Club of Pensacola members, Ted Brown and Kathy Horton-Brown traveled to Bidar, India as ambassadors to observe the village schools for which the Rotary Club of Pensacola Foundation and Rotary International District 6940 funded provisions for school desks and supplies. They met with the affiliate club members in Bidar, India to observe the status of the on-going project. The Pensacola club provided over $6,000 for this project

Ted and Kathy as members of the International Projects Committee of Rotary Club of Pensacola also evaluated the need for water wells as part of the upcoming fiscal year project. While there, they saw the results of the club’s previous year’s water buffalo project.

The Water Buffalo Project culminated in the Rotary Club of Pensacola raising over $20,000 to sponsor the purchase of 50 buffalo to help the poor women and children in the Indian villages by freeing them from working in the fields in order for them to attend school. It is estimated that as many as 75 – 100 children were able to attend school as a result of this project.
